- The electronic cigarette -
Electronic cigarettes are actually vaporizers, because unlike real cigarettes, there is no combustion, but heating of a liquid that vaporizes. On the market there are E-Cig of all shapes, from those that look like a pen to what looks like a cigarette, a cigar or a pipe. Whatever the form, however, the electronic cigarette is composed of:
a battery, a tank with a resistance inside and a button to activate the vaporization.
The battery is not very different from what we find in mobile phones, that is a lithium-ion battery. On the market there are various voltages that make vape different in intensity and taste, depending on the volts and the model. Even these batteries should be recharged like those of smartphones and, over time, their performance has become increasingly longer and more constant during use.
The resistance is formed, among other things, of organic cotton that is impregnated with liquid. When the battery provides energy to the resistance, it is heated and produces steam. To trigger this process there is a device that can be activated depending on the model: manually or with a sensor that activates when it is aspirated.
Although not well known, the first model of electronic cigarette was invented in 1963 in America, but it never arrived on the market. Only 40 years later, the Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik, realized and put on the market this innovation. Born as an alternative to the classic cigarette and, above all, as a "soft" way to quit smoking, in recent years, electronic cigarette has increasingly become a mass phenomenon.
